HBR Consulting is seeking a Manager, Procurement Services to join their Strategic Sourcing & Business Optimization practice. The Procurement Solutions & Managed Services team assists clients in enhancing and improving the effectiveness of internal procurement functions while reducing costs across a variety of areas, optimizing business processes and improving stakeholder value.

As a part of HBR Consulting’s Procurement Solutions, we will rely on you to work closely with project team members and client personnel, managing operations and execution of procurement services, facilitating requirements gathering, researching best practices and leveraging internal intellectual property and conducting data analysis to facilitate the implementation of cost savings and process improvement opportunities. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the identified opportunities as well as support practice operations and business development.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in a related Consulting, Procurement Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Project Management or Process Improvement role.  Analytical experience, ability to train, mentor and lead project teams and a desire to learn and grow are essential. Additional qualifications will include the following abilities, attributes, experience and skills:

  • Effectively manage Client’s procurement team and delivery of services including transactional purchasing, contract management, and strategic sourcing efforts
  • Establish productive relationships with key Client leaders and internal customers
  • Resolve and address any internal / external issues that might arise
  • Promote procurement goals and activities to internal customers (end users, Leadership)
  • Proactively seek and identify opportunities expand the scope of procurement’s support and activity; develop business cases to support recommendations
  • Develop and implement measurement tools and tracking to ensure vendor contract compliance
  • Oversee the management of and negotiations with vendors; primary negotiator on key accounts
  • Manage the RFx process for multiple buyers and areas simultaneously
  • Resolve escalated vendor, end user and Accounts Payable issues
  • Develop and implement measurement tools to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the group and its team members
  • Responsible for developing team members which will include coaching, mentoring and conducting performance reviews
  • Manage client related and internal firm projects including deliverables, timelines, etc.
  • Ensure all procurement policies and procedures are followed
  • Manage the onboarding of new team members, including materials creation
  • Leverage experience to assist with operational assessments

Education and Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years in a procurement role
  • Minimum of 2 years’ management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience using e-Procurement systems (Purchasing, Contract Management, etc.)
  • Experience managing and leading procurement professionals
  • Self-starter, ability to prioritize in a multi-tasking environment
  • Extremely responsive and customer focused
  • Commitment to superior quality and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal / teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively with internal clients, vendors, colleagues and support staff
