Evan Trent

Chief Operating Officer

Evan serves as chief operating officer of HBR Consulting (HBR). In partnership with the leadership team, he plays an integral role in developing the Firm’s strategy and performance. Evan leads HBR’s finance, information technology, legal, marketing and talent teams.

Over the past 15 years, Evan has served in a variety of senior management roles for startups, private equity portfolio companies and publicly traded corporations. Most recently he served as vice president strategy and corporate development for Heidrick & Struggles, a publicly traded professional services firm. At Heidrick he led the development of the firm’s global enterprise strategy and executed a series of acquisitions which ultimately led to a doubling of the firm’s market capitalization in four years.

Prior to Heidrick, Evan was a senior executive for portfolio companies at Sterling Partners. During his time at Sterling he served as senior vice president corporate development for School of Rock and was part of the leadership team that grew the network from 40 to 200+ schools, expanding to 9 global markets, serving 25,000 students worldwide. Before joining Sterling, Evan worked as a strategy consultant and a technology entrepreneur.

Outside of work, Evan is dedicated to civic engagement. He was selected as a 2018 fellow for Leadership Greater Chicago and serves as chairman of the board for Open Books, chair of the governance committee and board member for The Arts & Business Council of Chicago. He is a board member for Third Coast Percussion and The Boulevard as well as an amateur Iron Chef and devoted music lover with thousands of LPs in his record collection. Evan holds a B.A. and MBA from The University of Chicago.
