Matt Sunderman

President, Advisory

Matt serves as president of the Advisory business at HBR Consulting (HBR). He leads the integrated Advisory practice groups – Information Governance; Legal Technology; Legal Transformation + Innovation; Strategic Sourcing + Business Optimization; and Strategy + Operations – as well as HBR’s Software Solutions team, with a focus on driving value for clients by providing collaborative, integrated services aligned with their own go-to-client strategies.

Leveraging his experience advising domestic and international organizations, Matt has worked with clients to streamline operations, enhance cross-functional collaboration, reduce expenses, and effectively leverage both HBR and external third-party software and managed services. Matt and his team frequently assist clients with pre- and post-merger planning and integration.

Prior to joining HBR, Matt was a founding member and director at Blue Hill Consulting Group and a manager in Huron Consulting Group’s Operational Consulting practice. Matt holds an MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has held his Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation since 2005.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, two young kids and black lab, as well as being outdoors, live music and practicing yoga.
